The traditional Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival is upcoming, show time of main role -- Moon cake is on! Maybe you are just attracted by the multi-flavor of delicious moon cakes, or maybe you were told the fairy story of the moon cakes that it was made by a great man HouYi to worship his wife - Chang’e and she is a beautiful Chinese goddess in the Moon,they love each other so much.It is a sweet love story...
While there is another one version of the story.
As normal story start...Long long years ago, there were 10 suns in the sky and they are sons of the Jade Emperor ( Chinese God and lives in the sky),usually they took turns on duty everyday,but one day they were too naughty to remember their work and they found it was so happy together,then they got together more and more...People on the earth couldn’t endure it, then there was a hero whose name is HouYi and he tried his best to shoot 9 suns. It makes the Jade Emperor very angry and wanted to kill him, but people solute HouYi so much, they found a kind of Elixir for living forever and present to HouYi, It made HouYi happy and upset also, he worried that somebody will steal it so he hided it in a cake and made it tougher and look golden ( Golden is always royal and authoritative color in Chinese culture).But someday his pretty wife found it and she always wanted to keep beautiful forever, it seems it is a good chance to steal and have it when HouYi was not at home. After she ate it,she was flying and delivered to a palace named GuangHan on the Moon.It makes HouYi very furious and he cursed that his wife would be punished and keep lonely. (Then the Moon cannot be warmed by the sun and the palace is always so cold, and there is only a rabbit living with Chang’e in the palace. There is another man WuGang is living in,but he could never be near Chang’e, he just keeps cutting a Greening in the Moon...) People surround HouYi just knew that HouYi’s wife become a lucky immortal which is all people’s dream. They were more and more people making the similar cake and they contained different food stuffing in the cakes, and they liked to make it and enjoy it with family round the table outdoor on each 15TH, August in Chinese lunar calendar when the moon looks very big, round and bright and they could see Chang’e dancing in the moon...
Over time going, people keep the traditional custom and name it moon cake. And all people like Hogeen workers just share the best wishes for each one - Best Heath, Good luck, Happy life, Great Wealth and Sweet love...
